2003 Fire and Ems Training Summer Camp

The 2003 Fire and Ems Summer Camp was held June 22nd - July 13th in Salladasburg, Pa. at Camp Kiwanis. The camp consisted of two tracks, Fire and Ems. 27 students registered for the fire track and 17 for the Ems track. Upon successful completion the Ems track students became certified Pa. Dept. of Health EMT's. the Fire track students earned certifications in Essentials of Firefighting 88 hours, Haz-Mat Awareness and Operations and a 16 hour Vehicle Rescue Awareness. The camp was a success overall, and the good and bad points are being evaluated to improve the program to make it even better for next year. Next years camp is tentatively scheduled to start June 12th 2004 and run through July 3rd 2004. We'll keep future interested students updated.
The camp was open to anyone over 15 years of age, but is geared toward 16 - 18 year olds. This was an excellent opportunity for students to get some quality training, in a short period of time, to benefit their community's.
Campers were housed at Camp Kiwanis on Rt. 287 Hwy in Salladasburg, Pa. which is located approx. 15 miles south of Williamsport, Pa. Some of the classes and practical sessions were held at the camp and others were held at various training facilities located in the area.
Mike Freezer would like to thank everyone who helped to make this years camp a success. Without all of your support this program wouldn't of been possible. He hopes he did not forget anyone!
